Description

For practice ,I tried to draw the pose of that horse today :iconhappysunplz: , based on this original picture postimg.org/image/n8ro8nb7f/

I did quite well the poseHappy Happy..Onion and sorry for the background I didn't know how to make it .I think that there is something off or incomplete with the face , I didn't put correctly the shadows .Also , I used a paper size A4 .

That's an adoptable so ...

To :iconimprovement-club: In this artwork I wanted to achieve realistic look for the pose .
I just want someone to critique my shading (mainly the hair and the body shadows ) and the way that I did the hair because I had the hardest time trying to blend that part smoothly !I would like to know if I have improved in my skills , and what my errors actually ?

Good work on the pose! The anatomy looks really good. The nose is somewhat small, but eh, just a minor thing. If you want to make it more realistic, you can do that by focusing more on light and shading. In your example pic, you can see the horse is lit from behind, which makes the outer edges (especially of the manes and tail) glow. Such a magical effect! So darken the body and the background, but keep the edges of the horse white.
I think it would have looked better if you would have drawn the rear legs + front hoof. I know that they are not visible in your example picture, because grass blocks the view. Here it's like... They just disappear... The poor horse...

Also: did you use water here? Since the paper looks wrinkled. If so, you can try to iron it out:  expeditionaryart.com/blog/2014… (I have never tried this before, so I can't tell you how to do this in detail... Try it out on an empty page first)
